Gerolstein (Verbandsgemeinde)

The municipality Gerolstein is an administrative unit in the form of a local authority in the district of volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. The municipality includes the town of Gerolstein and twelve independent local communities, the administrative headquarters is located in the eponymous city Gerolstein.

History

The municipality Gerolstein has arisen in the context of action taken in the second half of the 1960s and early 1970s, Rhineland-Palatinate, functional and territorial reform of the existing 1927 Office Gerolstein. On October 1, 1968, the Association of Municipalities were evaluated because of the "Land Act amending municipal constitutional requirements and to prepare for the reorganization of local government " initially converted from July 16, 1968 all 132 offices in the districts of Koblenz and Trier, including the Office Gerolstein in association communities.

1968 belonged to the municipality Gerolstein the city Gerolstein as well as the local communities Berlingen, Betteldorf, Bewingen, Büsch Eich, Gees, Hinterhausen, Hinterweiler, Hohenfels- Essingen, Kalenborn - scouring Lissingen, Michel Bach, Müllenborn, Neroth, Pelm, Rockeskyll, Roth and Salm.

In a further step of municipal reform were the " Eighth state law on administrative simplification in the land of Rhineland -Palatinate " formed on 28 July 1970, the Association of Municipalities in circles down below, with effect from November 7, 1970. The new municipality Gerolstein was assigned the following municipalities:

  • From the previous municipality Gerolstein the city Gerolstein and the local churches Berlingen, Büsch Eich, Gees, Hohenfels- Essingen, Kalenborn - chafing, Michel Bach, Müllenborn, Neroth, Pelm, Rockeskyll, Roth and Salm,
  • Of the dissolved municipality Birresborn ( Prüm district ) municipalities Birresborn, Densborn, Kopp and Mürlenbach,
  • From the previous municipality of Prüm country ( Prüm district ) municipalities Duppach and Oos.

The new municipality Gerolstein was the legal successor of the dissolved association communities Gerolstein and Birresborn. Administrative headquarters, the city remained Gerolstein.

Before the formation of the association of municipalities municipalities Bewingen, Hinterhausen and Lissingen were incorporated to Gerolstein on June 7, 1969. The communities Betteldorf and Hinterweiler were assigned to the municipality Daun.
