Kopp, Germany

Kopp is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It is located in the volcanic Eifel region and belongs to the municipality of Gerolstein.

Geography

The municipality is located in the west of the Natural Park Eifel as well as in the conservation area " Gerolstein and environment." The district Eigelbach is on the sole of a Trockenmaares, the yolk Acher maar. The municipality also includes the residential places Berghof, Eichenhof, Kirsthof and Schäfersruh.

History

Kopp, (derived from tip ) was first mentioned in 1286 (then a possession of the abbey of Prüm ). First Settlement evidence already in Roman times ( Roman road Trier- Cologne, close ).

As part of Rhineland-Palatinate, functional and territorial reform the church Kopp was reclassified along with 14 other communities on 7 November 1970 by the same resolution Prüm district in the county down (since 2007 County Volcanic Eifel ).
