Brockscheid

Brockscheid is a municipality in the volcanic Eifel region of Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Daun.

The village lies in the volcanic Eifel.

History

1563 had Brockscheid under the name Prock Scheid seven, 1684 six fireplaces. Gorgeous country was the village until the late 18th century to the Electorate of Trier and was under as part of the Zents Udler the office administration and high court down.

Parish council

Bell foundries

In Brockscheid are two of only a few bell foundries in Germany.

  • The bell founder Mark tradition of family can be traced back to 1620. The Eifel bell foundry, since 1840 in Brockscheid resident and in the sixth generation, is led by the single bell-founder champion of Europe, Cornelia Mark Maas, (February 2011).
  • The company bell and art casting Hermann Schmitt is the second foundry.

Archaeological ground monuments

Halfway towards Liesertal you can see the foundations of the so-called Geisen castle. The castle was built in 1340 was originally called Freudenstein.
