Gert Bongers

Gert Bongers ( born August 22, 1948 in Voorst ) is a former Dutch cyclist and World Champion.

In 1967, Gert Bongers world champion in the individual pursuit in front of his home crowd in Amsterdam and Dutch champion. The following year he turned professional and second in the Dutch Championship in pursuit, 1969, he won the title in this discipline. He also started at six six-day race, but without much success.

Then finished Bongers his short cycling career, since he did not feel comfortable in the milieu of professional cycling. In addition, he regretted to have become professional and so not being able to participate in the Olympic Games. He was a successful businessman and has lived in Curacao for many years.
