Goran Nikolić

Goran Nikolić ( Serbian Cyrillic Горан Николић; born July 1, 1976 in Nikšić, Yugoslavia ) is a former Montenegrin basketball player.

Career

Nikolic started his professional basketball career in 1996 at Ibon Nikšić in the second Yugoslav league. In the summer of 1997, he moved to FMP Železnik in the capital Belgrade, where he spent six seasons active until the end of the season 2002/ 03. With FMP Železnik 1998 when he was runner- Yugoslav, 1999 and 2002, he reached the cup final and in 2003 he became Cup Winners' Cup and reached the quarter-finals of the ULEB Cup.

2001 Nikolić was appointed to the Yugoslav Allstar Game. For the season 2003/ 04 he moved abroad to Europe division Turkish Efes Pilsen Istanbul. In the first year at Efes was Nikolić Turkish champions and reached the Turkish Cup final. In the following season he played with Efes Pilsen in the ULEB Euro League. In the season 2004/ 05 Nikolic and Efes defended the Turkish Cup and reached the quarter- finals of the Euro League.

In the same year Nikolić was also nominated for Allstar of the Turkish league. This season, he scored an average of 9.4 points and 5 rebounds in the Euro League and 9.6 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists in the Turkish league. In the following season Nikolić signed with BK Kyiv, with whom he pushed forward to the Final Four of the FIBA Euro Cup and Ukrainian Cup finalist and was runner-up. Average he came to Kiev to 10.8 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.1 assits in the FIBA EuroCup, and to 10.9 points, 5.8 rebounds and 1 assist in the national competition. After Nikolić had been appointed to the Yugoslav national youth team in 1997, he was a member of the final squad of Serbia and Montenegro in the Basketball World Championship 2006 in Japan, where one was eliminated in the second round against the eventual champions Spain. After cleavage of the Montenegrin Basketball Association, who was born in Montenegro Nikolić for the national team of the new association decided.

In the season 2006/ 07 Nikolić played for CB Estudiantes of Madrid in Spain. In the FIBA EuroCup Estudiantes difference only in the semifinals to eventual winners CB Girona, but in the Spanish league, they could not reach the play -offs. Nikolic scored an average of 7.7 points (59% two, 43 % three ), 5.1 rebounds and 1 assist in the FIBA EuroCup, and 8.3 points (62% two, 38 % three ) and 3.3 rebounds in the ACB league. For the 2007 /08 BBL season Nikolić moved for a one-year commitment to the German first division club Alba Berlin, with whom in 2008 he won the German championship. Then he followed in the same year an offer of Panionios Athens in the Greek League A1 Ethniki, from where he moved in Limassol during the season for the Proteas EKA AEL Cypriot club. Likewise, moved his native also in Nikšić compatriot Goran Jeretin, who had previously played in the BK Kiev and stood in the 2007/ 08 season in Alba contracted to this club. Together they reached for Nikolić again, the Final Four of the FIBA EuroCup Challenge will take place now Euro -titled competition, where you could, however, prove only the fourth place. After another season in the Turkish Basketball League at the club from Mersin in 2010 he finished his playing career.
