Governor of Vatican City

The Governorate of Vatican City ( Italian: Governatorato dello Stato della Città del Vaticano ) is the State Administration of Vatican City. It consists of a committee of seven cardinals, headed by a president. This is thus head of government of the Vatican City. The Governorate with its offices and services is subject to multiple official of the Pontifical Commission for the State of Vatican City.

Structure of the Vatican City State and of the Governorate operation

The Commission meets several times a year and sets out the financial and budgetary policy of the Vatican State. The Governorate itself is divided into two strands, each of which is headed by a special representative. The first strand form the directorates; the second strand are under the central ministries and services, the Vatican Observatory, Castel Gandolfo and the Office of Archaeological Research.

Directorates

The Governorate is divided into the following directorates:

  • Directorate of State Accounting ( " Direzione della Ragioneria dello Stato " ), it performs the general ledger and cost center accounting of the authorities of the state. In addition, it carries out tasks of government audit.
  • Directorate of general services (" Direzione dei Servizi Generali " ), it consists of a customs administration, the Vatican Roads and Traffic Office, the Vatican Vehicle Registration Office and the so-called Floreria ( " Servizio della Floreria "), which is the interior decoration and design of office spaces endeavors. Central offices

Downstream of the Governorate of the following Central Offices are ( Uffici Centrali ), they report directly to the President:

  • Legal Office ( " Ufficio Giuridico " ), it writes the laws and examines all legal questions.
  • Personnel Office ( " Ufficio del Personale " ) handles all personnel matters involving employees of the Governorate. It is responsible for the training, further education and training of personnel.
  • Prior, National Register and Notary Office ( " Ufficio dello Stato Civile, Anagrafe e Notariato " ), the Birth, Marriage and Death and the list of nationalities and residence permits. It maintains the official personnel records of all employees.
  • Philatelic and Numismatic Office or Vatican Post Office ( " Ufficio Filatelico e Numismatico " ) organizes the production and publication of coins and stamps.

  • Pilgrims and tourists Office ( " Ufficio Pellegrini e Turisti "), which operates at St. Peter's Square in the Braccio di Carlo Magno, provided information to the pilgrims and tourists to the Vatican City. This is in cooperation with the other institutions and authorities of the Holy See for the pilgrims care.

Services of the Governorate

This includes the service for safety and health of workers, service for the Vatican Observatory, administrative services for the Fund for the Health Service ( Fondo Assistenza Sanitaria ), care service of the Pension Fund ( Fondo Pensioni ).
