Grand Prix du Midi Libre

The Grand Prix Midi Libre (short: GP Midi Libre ) was a French cycling race over several stages, sponsored by the French newspaper Midi Libre, which took place from 1949 until 2002, 54 times. Many high-class cyclists used the race takes place in May in preparation for the Tour de France, the last Midi- winner was Lance Armstrong. In 2003 it was halted due to economic problems, the main sponsor and the doping scandal in cycling and the Tour du Languedoc- Roussillon, organized by Amaury Sport Organisation (including the organizer of the Tour de France), replaced. However, this was also discontinued after only one host. The only winner was Christophe Moreau.
