Gretna F.C.

The Gretna FC ( officially: Gretna Football Club ) - founded in 1946 - was a professional football club based in Gretna, Scotland. In 2002, the club in the Scottish Football League Third Division, received the fourth Scottish professional league, as a place had become vacant due to the de facto merger of FC Clydebank and Airdrie United ( successor to the bankrupt Airdrieonians FC ). After 6th place in the first year and 3rd place in the second came in the following seasons of the walkover to the Scottish Premier League. A year before, gave the club its debut in the European Cup since before the final of the sensational Scottish FA Cup was reached. Bankruptcy

On 3 June 2008, the club drew the consequences from the financial quagmire and resigned from the Scottish Football League SFL and was finally dissolved on August 8.

New start as Gretna Football Club 2008

Even before the dissolution of the association founded followers of the club on 2 July 2008 a new club, Gretna Football Club 2008, which although legally has no links to the original club, but in the tradition of the same looks and four days after establishment in the East of Scotland Football League was added.

The home games are played in Ever Holm stage to Annan, but Gretna wants to move in 2008 as soon as possible in the " domestic" Raydale Park in Gretna.

As play clothes the original combination was chosen with black and white striped shirts, white shorts and socks, and bought the rights to the Gretna club crest.
