Groß Quenstedt

Great Quenstedt is a municipality in the district of Harz (Saxony -Anhalt). She is a member congregation of the community association Vorharz.

Geography

The place is located in the northern Harz foreland at the Holtemme, northeast of the county town of Halberstadt. The almost one thousand years Romanesque village church is worth a visit. Through the village leads the federal highway 245 after Schwanebeck and the railway line Halberstadt, Magdeburg, was connected to the United Quenstedt with its own railway station.

History

Great Quenstedt belonged until 1648 to the diocese of Halberstadt and then got to the kurbrandenburgische ( Prussian ) Principality of Halberstadt. The patch was directly subordinated to the Majoreiamt Halberstadt. 1808-1813 he was part of the Saale Department of the Kingdom of Westphalia in 1815 and came to the Magdeburg Region of the Prussian Province of Saxony.

The historical part of the municipal archives of the United Quenstedt is located in the State Archives of Saxony-Anhalt in Magdeburg.

The coat of arms was approved on 25 August 1995 by the regional council of Magdeburg.

The flag is green - white striped to the issued municipal coat of arms.
