Grzegorz Filipowski

Grzegorz Filipowski ( born July 28, 1966 in Łódź ) is a retired Polish figure skater, who started in a single run.

Filipowski is considered the best figure skaters in the history of Polish Eiskunstlaufes. The Polish champion of 1981-1986 reached his first major international success when he won the bronze medal at the European Figure Skating Championships in 1985. At the European Championships in 1989, he could even win the silver medal behind the Russians Alexander Fadeev.

He celebrated his biggest success at the World Figure Skating Championships in Paris in 1989 when he won there, so far the only poles at a World Cup podium. The bronze medal he won behind the Canadian Kurt Browning and the Americans Christopher Bowman. He was thus the best European of the title fights.

Filipowski took three times at the Olympics in part: Sarajevo 1984, Calgary 1988, Albertville 1992 His best finish at the Olympics was the fifth place in Calgary.. After the Games of Albertville and the subsequent World Championships he finished his amateur career and turned professional. In 1997 he ended his active career final. He now lives in Canada and works as a trainer for short track speed skating.

Filipowski was the first figure skater who showed a combination of two triple jumps ( ride salvors ).
