The Quetzal is the currency of Guatemala.

It is issued by the Bank of Guatemala, founded in 1946, which is the central and central bank of the country. The name comes from the national bird Quetzal.

Cash is available as

  • Coins of 1, 5, 10, 25, 50 centavos, 1 Quetzal
  • Banknotes of 1, 5, 10, 20, 50, 100 and 200 Quetzales.

After the denominations were issued at 0.50 and 1 Quetzal for a few years only as coins, sets the central bank since 2007 1- Quetzal bills in circulation ( with an unchanged design, but made of polymer instead of paper ). The 200 Quetzales note was introduced in 2010.
