Günther Mader

Günther Mader (* June 24, 1964 in Matrei am Brenner, Tyrol) is a former Austrian alpine skier.

Career

Mader launched in 1982 for the first time in the Ski World Cup and won until his resignation in 1998 a total of 14 World Cup races. He is one of only five male ski racers who won at least one World Cup race in each alpine discipline. In the overall World Cup standings, he was second twice and between 1989 and 1996 a total of six best Austrian.

In March 1998, he suffered 13 days after retiring from racing a stroke, by his right half of the body was paralyzed and he lost 85 % of its developing language skills. But he recovered it largely. After his recovery after the stroke, he wrote a book entitled " Life and Survival ", in which he described his career, his stroke and his works as a racing boss. Today Mader 's racing chief of the ski company Salomon Austria.
