Guy Hebert

Andrew Guy Hebert ( born January 7, 1967 in Troy, New York ) is a retired American professional ice hockey goaltender who played from 1991 to 2001 for the St. Louis Blues, Mighty Ducks of Anaheim and New York Rangers of the National Hockey League.

Career

Hebert played during his junior time for the team from Hamilton College. Due to his good performances he was selected in the NHL Entry Draft in 1987 by the St. Louis Blues. His professional career began in the farm team of the Blues at the Peoria Rivermen in the IHL. There he performed well on and was elected to the All-Star team in the league.

In the 1991/92 season, the Blues picked up as a back -up for Curtis Joseph in the NHL. After his second season in St. Louis, he was obliged in the NHL Expansion Draft in 1993 by the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim. For many years he was a fixture in goal for the Ducks. He represented his team in the NHL All-Star Game in 1997. During the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1994 he was in the squad of Team USA. With 27 shutouts he was until 2008 the most successful goalkeeper of the Mighty Ducks ( and Anaheim Ducks ) until it was surpassed by Jean -Sébastien Giguère. In the 2000 /01 season drew with Jean -Sébastien Giguère after a young goalie who Hebert took its crown. After you had indicated to him that would not extend his contract, Hebert was set in March 2001 by the Mighty Ducks on the Waiverliste, chose him from the New York Rangers. There he played the season to end, but did not get another contract and finished with 34 years of his career.

Internationally

Hebert participated in the 1994 World Cup and the World Cup of Hockey in 1996 with the U.S. national team. In the 1994 World Cup he came as a goalkeeper to six inserts and finished the tournament with the USA in fourth place. At the World Cup of Hockey in 1996, the Americans won in the final series against Canada, Hebert was in a game in action and acted mainly as a back -up of Mike Judge.
