Haboro, Hokkaido

Haboro (Japanese羽 幌 町, -chō ) is a town in the district Tomamae in the sub-prefecture Rumoi on Hokkaidō.

Etymology

The name comes from Ainu Haboro haboropetsu, which means " pool of a wide river ."

Geography

For the urban area of ​​Haboro include the offshore islands Teuri (天 売 岛, -tō ) and Yagishiri (焼 尻 岛, -tō ). Both belong to the Shokambetsu - Teuri - Yagishiri Quasi National Park (暑 寒 别 天 売 焼 尻 国 定 公园).

History

On February 3, 1894 Haboro ( Haboro -mura羽 幌 村, ) is established as a district of the village Tomamae and on 15 July 1897 as an independent village outsourced.
