Habtamu Fikadu

Habtamu Fikadu ( born March 13, 1988 in the province of Shewa ) is an Ethiopian long-distance runner.

He began his career as a sprinter and won at the Junior Africa Championships 2005 bronze in the 400m. In 2006, he finished sixth in the junior race of the IAAF World Cross Country Championships in Fukuoka and retired at the Track Championships in Africa Bambous over 400 m in the run- off.

The following year he won the Obudu Mountain Run. At the World Cross Country Championships 2008 in Edinburgh he was in the adult race in ninth and won with the Ethiopian team silver as well as in the World Cross Country Championships 2009 in Amman, where he came in fifth place in the individual standings.

With another victory at the Obudu Mountain Run he was in 2009 the first African champions in mountain running.
