Haplogroup I (mtDNA)

Haplogroup I is in human genetics a haplogroup of the mitochondria.

Haplogroup I is found throughout Europe and the Middle East. It is believed that it originated in Eurasia somewhere before about 30,000 years and was one of the first haplogroups on the way to Europe.

Ancestor of haplogroup was Haplogroup N ( mtDNA).
