Harald Hudak

Harald Hudak ( born January 28, 1957 in Vaihingen an der Enz ) is a retired German middle distance runner.

In 1974 he became West German youth champion and 1977 federal German Junior Champion in the 1500 meter race.

On August 17, 1977, he was in Cologne part of a West German quartet ( Thomas Wessinghage, Hudak, Michael Lederer, Karl Fleschen ) was duly drawn up with 14:38,8 min a world record in the 4- times -1500- meter relay. This record was broken in Brussels by a Kenyan quartet ( William Biwott Tanui, Gideon Gathimba, Geoffrey Rono Kipkoech, Augustine Kiprono Choge ) until 4 September 2009 ( 14:36,23 min).

Harald Hudak had always beaten by Thomas Wessinghage in the national comparison. On August 27, 1980, he reached behind him in a 1500 - meter race in a time of 3:31,96 min Koblenz. He stands in the eternal German leaderboard in second place (as of the end of season 2009). He keeps up with 5:04,4 min over 2000 m, ran on June 30, 1976 in Oslo, still the European junior record.

In the Indoor Athletics European Championships in Vienna in 1979, he was sixth over 1500m ( 3:45,9 min), and in 1980 he won in the open English championship (AAA Championships ) 5000m ( 13:51,71 min)

Harald Hudak is 1,79 m tall and weighed in its active life of 65 kg. He belonged to the sports club LG Bayer Leverkusen. He married the sprinter Heidi - Elke Gaugel.
