HÃ¥vard Lie

Håvard Lie ( born May 21, 1975 in Orkdal ) is a former Norwegian ski jumper.

Lie, who starts for the club Byåsen IL, played his first World Cup competitions on 3 December 1995 in Lillehammer. He finished the competition on the large hill on the 36th and missed only just the points. In the following World Cups, he was unlucky and was able to collect only on February 8, 1997 at ski jumping at Kulm first World Cup points. After he came to 14th place in the first ski flying, he finished the second fly in 9th place. When two weeks later held Nordic World Ski Championships 1997 in Trondheim he could reach the 28th place and on the large hill on the 9th place on the normal hill. In the team competition, together with him Roar Ljøkelsøy, Espen Bredesen and Lasse Ottesen managed 5th place. Barely a week after the World Cup he could with the team for the first time in Lahti rise to the podium and finished jumping on the 3rd place. He could still reach several top - 10 finishes in the World Cup after this success and finished the World Cup season 1996/97 on the 28th place in the overall standings. In the Norwegian Championships 1997 in Mo i Rana he won the bronze medal in the large hill behind Lasse Ottesen and Espen Bredesen. The following World Cup 1997/98 season was not as successful as the previous season. So he could only jump a total of two times in the points. After the season he put therefore for 2 years an international competition break. In the Norwegian Championships in 1998, however, he won the gold medal in the team competition on the large hill in Trondheim.

After two years of competition break Lie denied on March 4, 2000 in Lahti, again a World Cup and failed with space 31 again just short of the points. Only in the 2000/ 01 World Cup season, he could again reach a point ranking in the ski flying in Harrachov and finished jumping on place 29 end of the season in Trondheim he could even jump again with 19th place in the Top 20. Despite this he was transferred to the 2001/02 season in the Continental Cup (COC ). His best finish he could reach here, was a 5th place on the large hill in Planica on 12 January 2003. Nationally Lie won the Norges Cup 2002 /03. However, since also in the Continental failed to success and he was in World Cup competition to which he has been nominated in the meantime, had no points, he finished after jumping in brown layer on 25 January 2004 he was active Skispringerkarriere.

He currently serves as an assistant coach the elite team from the team Trønderhopp in Trondheim.
