Hemse

Hemse is after the capital Visby is the second largest city ( tätort ) on the Swedish island of Gotland in the province of Gotland County and the historical province of Gotland.

The village in the municipality of Gotland is a straight line about 45 kilometers south of the town of Visby, on the winding road 142, however, there are approximately 50 kilometers. In the 19th century it was an important market town Hemse. In Hemse is a medieval church. The stave church that stood in the same place before, was partially reconstructed. The library in Hemse contains Sonja Åkesson archive.

Land use

The area is mainly used for agriculture and has small impacts of forest. Part of the area is drained from myr parts of Moore Mästermyr, Stånga myr and Rone.
