Herzegovina-Neretva Canton

The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton ( kroat. Hercegovačko - Neretva Županija, bosn. Hercegovačko - neretvanski Canton ) is one of the ten cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. The name derives from the River Neretva and the area of ​​Herzegovina, in the Canton of lies. Council is based in Mostar.

The canton is located in the southwest of the country and has an area of ​​4401.0 km ².

Population

The Herzegovina-Neretva Canton has about 236,000 inhabitants (2013 ) and has been inhabited relatively thin with about 54 inhabitants per square kilometer.

Herzegovina -Neretva is one of two former cantons with a special status, in which the Croatian and Bosniak the population are approximately equal.
