Tuzla Canton

The Tuzla Canton ( bosn. Tuzlanski Canton) is one of the cantons of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its name comes from its capital city of Tuzla.

It has an area of 2649 km ² and around 477,000 inhabitants ( 2013), mostly Bosniaks.

History

The Tuzla Canton was established in 1994 when it was established by the Washington Agreement of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He received his present boundaries by the Dayton Agreement of 1995, which established the border between the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republika Srpska.

Except Banovići, Srebrenik and Živinice all communities experienced a territorial change as a result of Daytonabkommens.
