Hevisaurus

Hevisaurus is a Finnish heavy metal band that was founded in 2009. The target audience of the band are children, which is why both the lyrics and the appearance of the band was designed for children.

History

The band originated in 2009 from a question of the then five- year-old son of the musician Mirka Rantanen Metal ( Thunderstone ). Together with friends, he put together a band that consists of four dinosaurs and a dragon. As a partner for the publications, the major label Sony BMG was obtained, which released the debut album Jurahevin kuninkaat on 17 October 2009. The album went into the Finnish charts, where it rose over the following months to number 5. In addition, it was the Best Children's Album for the Emma Award nominations in the category in 2010.

In live performances put five musicians in dino costumes. Drummer Dino is Mirka Rantanen. Who is in the remaining four costumes will be kept secret. At the recording sessions for the album, however, prominent Finnish musician Henrik Klingenberg took ( Sonata Arctica ), Jens Johansson ( Dio, Yngwie Malmsteen, Stratovarius ), Nino Laurenne ( Thunderstone ) and Mikko Salovaara ( Kiuas ) part. The concerts are usually held in the afternoon and last no longer than one hour. The volume of the music is a maximum of 85 decibels. Afterwards, the children can make the dinosaurs for autographs.

In May and June 2010, the Dinos played in the musical Purppuramysteeri (Eng. Crimson mystery ), that tells a story about an adventure of a dinosaur. The musical was created in a collaboration with the Komediateatteri arena in the theater, the musical was also presented.

In early 2011 came band founder Rantanen and the Sony label in dispute, after which the band broke up. Rantanen and three other members of the original cast started the band Sauruxet. Only the singer remained with the label and plays with new members under the name Hevisaurus. Both bands have the same concept and more or less identical stage name and costume.
