Hille Perl

Hille Perl (actually: Hildegard Perl, * 1965 in Bremen ) is a German viola da gamba, which is known as an interpreter of music of the 17th and 18th century Europe.

Life

Hille Perl grew up in a musically influenced family. Her father, the musicologist, harpsichordist and organist Helmut Perl, worked intensively with Mozart and gave his daughter already has a small viola da gamba. Hille Perl initially took lessons with Niklas Trüstedt in Berlin and studied in Hamburg at Pere Ros and Ingrid Stampa later. At the Academy of Ancient Music in Bremen with Jaap ter Linden and Sarah Cunningham, she completed her studies in 1990. During their training, Hille Perl received important suggestions by Wieland Kuijken and Jordi Savall. She teaches since 2002 at the University of the Arts Bremen students in instruments of the gamba family.

She is married with lutenist Lee Santana. Her daughter, Marthe Perl is also gamba player.

Artistic work

In addition to her concert performances, she published since 1997 numerous recordings for the German label Harmonia Mundi and Sony BMG, as well as the German independent label Carpe Diem Records.

Hille Perl has performed with ensembles such as the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra and the Balthasar Neumann Ensemble. She performs as a soloist or in a duo with her ​​longtime partner Lee Santana, with whom she has worked since 1984. In 2001 she founded together with him and Steve Player, the ensemble Los Otros, which has now made ​​numerous national and international guest performances and several albums grossed.

Furthermore, Hille Perl works with many other artists and occurs in some other formations in appearance. The Sirius Viols is a viol ensemble, occasionally supplemented with other instruments or vocals, which has set out, among other things, " different musical ideas or approaches try " and can be found in the often former or current students of Hille Perl. In Why Not Here they came together with their gamba playing colleague Friederike Heumann and under the name The Age Of Passions with the musicians Petra Müllejans (baroque violin), Lee Santana (lute, theorbo and colascione ) and Karl Kaiser ( transverse flute ). Since 2005 she plays together with Lee Santana and the recorder player Maurice Steger in Baroque Trio.
