Horná Kráľová

Horná Kráľová ( until 1927 slovak " Kráľová " or " Kráľovce "; Hungarian Királyi ) is a city and a municipality in Okres Šaľa of Nitriansky Region in western Slovakia. The number of inhabitants amounted to 1891 (31 December 2011 ).

Geography

The municipality is located in the Slovak Danube lowland, more precisely in the hilly part, on Dlhý kanál (literally Langer channel). Horná Kráľová is 13 kilometers from Šaľa and 22 kilometers from Nitra away.

1975-1990 the church was a part of the community Sládečkovce ( since 1991 Močenok ).

History

The village was mentioned in writing in the Zoborská documents for the first time in 1113 and was originally a royal possession. Since the 15th century it belonged to the diocese Neutra, where it remained until the end of serfdom. In 1601 the town was burnt down by the invading Turks. While in the past the majority of the population was in agriculture ( such as in beet and maize ), today they are involved in the industry and service.
