The Silvia Ana L is a fast ferry and the second largest monohull fast ferry in the world and the largest in Bazans Fernando Shipyard.

History

The ship was launched in 1996 under the hull number 327 at the Spanish shipyard Bazans Fernando Shipyard for the Argentinean company Los Cipreses SA built. The keel was laid on February 22, the launching on July 2, 1996. Shipowner was Boeing Capital Leasing Limited.

The ship was from the end of 1996 was first used by Buquebus on the Río de la Plata between Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Piriapolis, Uruguay. In early 1997 it was reconstructed on the shipyard for use by the Norwegian shipping company Color Line.

Color Line put the boat in the summer months along with the Christian IV in the Skagerrak between Hirtshals, Denmark and Kristiansand, Norway, a. It required for the journey just 2 ½ hours. During the rest of the fast ferry reversed until April 2000 on the Río de la Plata.

Between April 2000 and October 2007, the ship was used in the summer months on the route between Denmark and Norway; in winter, the ship was launched. 2005 Color Line bought the ship.

The ship was in November 2007 for 16 million U.S. $ in Los Cipreses SA sold and has been operating since December 20, 2007 for the shipping company Buquebus under its old name Silvia Ana L between the two main cities of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and Montevideo, Uruguay.

Equipment

The ship can accommodate 1250 passengers on two decks. The tourist class has 828 seats in four lounges, first class more than 422 seats in three lounges. The two vehicle decks which can accommodate up to 238 cars are on each to achieve a rear ramp.

Drive

The ship is powered by six sixteen -cylinder diesel engines manufacturer Caterpillar. The motors have each a capacity of 5,650 kilowatts and have a total of five water jet drives. The ship leads to a velocity of up to 38 knots. During the sea trials prior to entry on the Río de la Plata as 42 nodes have been reached.
