History

The ferry was at Austal Ships Pty Ltd. built in Henderson, Western Australia, as a catamaran under the type designation AutoExpress 86 and delivered in March 2000. The ship was thus the first gas turbine drive that was created in the southern hemisphere. It is named after Villum Clausen, one of Bornholm's freedom fighter who rebelled after the Peace of Roskilde in 1658 against Sweden.
