History

The community Hünfelden was created as part of municipal reform in Hesse on October 1, 1971 through the voluntary merger of the previously independent municipalities Dauborn, herring, Kirberg, Mensfelden, Nauheim, Neesbach and ears. The name " Hünfelden " time was chosen because of the numerous burial mounds from the Hallstatt era around the districts herring and ears. The municipality had 6952 inhabitants at its inception.

1235 Cistercian monastery Gnadenthal was founded, which in 1590 equipped with a large Äbtissinnenhaus. After the Reformation, the plant was to Nassau State domain, since 1969 there is the Christian community Jesus Brotherhood.
