Neighboring communities

Mengerskirchen borders in the north on the community Greifenstein (Lahn -Dill -Kreis), in the east on the community Lohnberg, to the south by the municipalities Merenberg and forest Brunn (all three in Limburg- Weilburg ), and to the west by the municipalities of Neunkirchen, Elsoff and Oberrod (all three in the Westerwald district in Rhineland -Palatinate).

The seat of the municipality is located in the district of Menger churches. The respective districts are represented by a mayor in the town council.

History

The place Mengerskirchen was first mentioned in a document of the Canons of St. Lubentius in Dietkirchen an der Lahn in 1279. Today the district angle was already in 1243 first mentioned, Waldersbach 1296 Probbach 1299 Dillhausen 1307. Term " oppidum " Menger churches was 1307 refers. Documented confirmed the civic rights are, however, on February 18, 1321. In 1481 the market rights was added.

In the vicinity of Menger churches led the Wallburg " Rentmauer " over, offered the then inhabitants protection. Their office district ( Sprengel ) comprised Almenrod, Arborn, Cödlingen, Dillhausen, Helmenrod, Nenderoth, low and Oberprobbach ( today only Probbach ), Oberhausen, Or mountain and angle. On 31 December 1970, the previously independent municipalities Dillhausen, Probbach, Waldersbach and angle were incorporated. Menger churches was designated as the seat of the municipal administration of the greater community of the same name.

Recreational facilities and sporting activities

Around the highest elevation in the area, the node that rises on the outskirts of the village churches Menger, interested people can devote the cross-country skiing during the winter months. In the summer, the two reservoirs Seeweiher Menger churches and Waldsee offer the opportunity to bathe.

Traffic

Menger churches is not directly connected to the road network. The nearest interchanges with State Road 49 are located in the communities Merenberg and Lohnberg (about 5 km). The nearest interchanges to the Federal Highway 45 are located in the town of Herborn (approx. 18 km). Since the closure of the railway in 1958 Kerkerbach there is no more line. The distance to the Frankfurt airport is about 85 km.

Education

In the municipality of Menger churches there is a primary school and a primary and secondary school. In addition, secondary schools in Weilburg and Limburg an der Lahn be visited.

Franz- Leuninger School

In the district of Menger churches on the Franz - Leuninger school is located. This is the primary school of the community. It is named after a native of Menger churches resistance fighter against the Nazi regime Franz Leuninger.
