Oberrod

Oberrod is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rennerod.

Geographical location

The community lies in the Westerwald on the border with Hesse. The nearest major cities are victories (34 km north), Wetzlar (27 km east) and Limburg an der Lahn (24 km south). Through the town flows the vice Bach.

History

Oberrod was first documented in 1290.

Parish council

The council Oberrod consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

The mayor is Klaus arbor.

Coat of arms

The coat of arms description reads: " Split front in gold, a black band with roof skylights and silver door - like window openings, the rear by an obliquely rising, upward splits tapered silver wave beams of blue and green, down a sloping left silver Rodehacke. "

Coat of Arms Description: The colors blue and gold point to the long-standing affiliation with the Duchy of Nassau, the green represents the forest wealth and the former agricultural orientation of the village. The silver wave bar represents the current flowing through the city vice Bach. The black band is the " St. Joseph's Chapel ", the oldest and most important building in Oberrod.
