Irmtraut

Irmtraut is a municipality in the Westerwald district in Rhineland- Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality Rennerod.

Geography

The municipality is situated on the Irmtraut Hessian border in the Westerwald between cities victories (36 km north), Wetzlar (30 km east) and Limburg an der Lahn (19 km south).

To Irmtraut include residential places Georgshof, Hubertushof, Sonnenhof yard Peter Heath.

History

Based on the Ersterwähnungen Irmtraut is the oldest parish in the municipality Rennerod. For the first time Irmtraut was first mentioned in the year 879, when Count Gebhard donated to the monastery of St. Severus in Gemünden in Lahngau goods.

Today's St. Mary's Church was first mentioned in 1355 as a chapel and consecrated in 1454 as a St. Anthony Church. The early Gothic choir tower can, however, suggest that their origin is already much older.

The local council in Irmtraut consists of twelve council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 a proportional representation, and the honorary mayor as chairman. The twelve seats in the municipal council are divided into two groups of voters.

Traffic

  • The nearest motorway junctions are Herborn and Haiger -Burbach on the A45 Dortmund - casting, continue Montabaur and Limburg -Nord on the A 3 Frankfurt - Cologne, all 20 to 25 kilometers away.
  • The nearest ICE breakpoints are Montabaur station or train station Limburg Süd, both at the high-speed line Cologne-Rhine/Main.
