I Want to Break Free

I Want to Break Free is a song by Queen from 1984, which was written by John Deacon and appeared on the album The Works.

The piece was published on 22 April 1984 as the second single from the album and reached in Belgium, Finland, the Netherlands and Austria # 1, UK # 3 and # 4 on the charts in Germany. In the UK, the single achieved Silver status.

Recording

The production was composed in E Major I Want to Break Free by Queen and Mack. Guest musicians Fred Mandel played synthesizer. As with many other compositions Deacons can be heard as a singer only Freddie Mercury.

Publications

From Queen appeared in 1984, three different studio versions of the song. The version on The Works (length approx 3:20 ) is about one minute shorter than the single- Remix (about 4:20 ), which is also included on Queens Compilations Greatest Hits II (1991) and Absolute Greatest (2009). The " publish - maxi-single I Want to Break Free " on the 12 Extended Mix " (approx. 7:15 ) includes in the final section, short extracts from all eight other songs from The Works. This version also appeared as a bonus track on the 1991 published by Hollywood Records in North America CD edition of the album.

Music Video

As with Queens of previous single Radio Ga Ga by David Mallet in the video for I Want to Break Free again directing. The video parodies the British TV series Coronation Street. In some scenes, the band members are seen in women's clothes. In addition, the video shows ballet scenes that have been performed by Freddie Mercury, who had shaved off his mustache for these scenes, together with the Royal Ballet. The American television channel MTV boycotted the video originally, the sister channel VH1 as it sent the first time in 1991.
