Ian Campbell (rapper)
Ice MC, the dance project the British singer and rapper Ian Colin Campbell. He was supported until 1994 by singer Jasmine Henry, then by Alessia Aquilani. The debut single, Easy, 1989 was the first chart hit.
Career
Ian Campbell grew up in Hyson Green in Nottingham on. During his high school days came from the initials of 'I' and 'C' the nickname ' Ice', he pointed later as ' Ian Campbell Esquire '. After high school, the son of Jamaican parents, spent some time near his hometown, before 1983 a breakdance crew joined, with whom he went on tour in Europe and so to Florence, Italy, came. There was 1989, the contact with Roberto Zanetti aka Robyx, an Italian musician and producer who, among other things by Savage became known.
The result of this collaboration was Campbell's debut single, Easy, published under the name 'Ice MC'. The vocal part initially took Jasmine Henry. The title achieved high rankings in the European charts, eg 5th place in Italy and 3rd place in Germany. The result Singles Cinema and Scream were also successful. The accompanying album Cinema appeared in 1990. Weil Hip House in 1991 was no longer very popular, the second Ice MC album was a shop keeper.
The third studio album Ice ' n' Green appeared in 1994. The female vocals now took Alessia Aquilani. The extractions Take Away the Colour, Think About the Way, which is also part of the soundtrack to Trainspotting - Neue Helden was, and It's a Rainy Day were represented on the charts around the world. The new Raggamuffin style was in demand even in the U.S. and made there for frequent radio airplay. 1995 new versions of the popular hit singles came on Ice ' n' Green - The Remix Album in stores. That same year, Campbell and Robyx had an argument, after which the two parted.
The 1996 album Dreadatour was produced by different teams, including Masterboy of nosie and Katzmann. Lead singer was Valentina Ducros. The first single, Give Me the Light climbed in some countries mean chart positions, the second single Music for Money was unsuccessful.
2002 Campbell returned to Italy to get back to work with Robyx. Only in 2004 was his new studio album Cold Skool in the trade. The vocals were sung by Michelle Weeks and Sarah Grimaldi. In August 2012, the new single Out Tonight, which he recorded with singer Giulia Gal appeared.
