Ida Corr

Ida Corr ( born March 14, 1977 in Aarhus ) is a Danish singer with Gambian roots.

Career

At the age of eleven years, Ida Corr won the first Danish Children's Grand Prix ( Børne Melodi Grand Prix " MGP "). As a young adult, she had experiences as a background singer for studio recordings and concerts, among others of Danish artists such as Gnags, Sanne Salomonsen, Thomas Helmig and Rasmus Nøhr.

2002 Corr gained notoriety in Denmark through regular appearances on the popular television show Venner for livet ( " Friends Forever " ) as a member of the short-lived girl group Sha Li Mar. The band released an album in the same year.

As a solo artist Ida Corr succeeded in 2004, the breakthrough in their home country with the release of their debut single, U Make Me Wanna (featuring Ataf Khawaja ). The following year, she released her debut album Street Diva and 2006 came their second album Robosoul on the market, in which she was involved as a co -producer and songwriter. From the last album Late Night Bimbo, Lonely Girl and Let Me Think About It were released as singles.

2008 Corr released her international debut album One in Scandinavia, the United States, Russia and France. A year later the album was also released in German-speaking countries. The album is a compilation of the best songs from her previous two solo albums, which is also the last two singles Let Me Think About It and Ride My Tempo contains.

Ida Corr was involved in parallel to her solo career and at the international band Sugarush Beat Company as the lead singer in which she was in from 2005 to 2009. In 2008, the three -piece band released their debut album Sugarush Beat Company under the British label RCA Records and digitally in the United States. From album The Singles LOVE, They Said I Said and Love Breed emerged.

In January 2009, she won both Alphabeat an award for the best Danish artists in Europe at the European Border Breakers Awards in Groningen. On 26 January 2009 reached Ida Corrs second single from the album Ride My Tempo One 1 in the German Dance Charts. An official music video for the single was released in March 2009. With time a teaser single for their upcoming fourth album, Under the Sun was brought to the market in Scandinavia in May 2009. On 16 December 2009 Ida participated in a concert against climate change in Copenhagen part, which took place during the UN Climate Change Conference COP 15. Together with Simon Mathew she sang the song Illusion, which was written by both artists for a WWF climate campaign.

On 7 January 2011 Corr rose along with Kato, Camille Jones and Johnson with their Danish language single Sjus directly to # 1 on the Danish Single charts. Ida was fascinated by the idea to sing songs in their native language so they decided a few months later a new single entitled Muses to publish Efter Katten. At the same time the English-speaking world Corr published single What Goes Around Comes Around with a music video.

In spring 2012, a collaboration came on the market: See You Later by British DJ duo Bimbo Jones, which developed from the original instrumental track Questions with the vocals of Ida Corr in a new house track. It was followed the next single Naughty Girl, which was recorded both in Danish and in English. On August 20, 2012 Corr was announced as a new member of the jury in the Danish adaptation of the music show X Factor. It will be on display from January 2013 alongside Anne Linnet and Thomas Blachman week during the broadcast on DR1. In November 2012 Tonight I'm Your DJ featuring Fatman Scoop was released worldwide as a single on the market, an English-language version of Muses Efter Katten. This single was coupled out of the compilation album Singled Out, which will be released in December 2012 in Germany.
