Ida Wüst

Ida Wüst ( born October 10, 1884 in Frankfurt am Main, † October 4, 1958 in Berlin) was an actress whose career high in the 1920s and 1930s with Universum Film AG was (Ufa ).

Life

Early Wüst discovered the world of theater for themselves. After attending secondary school in Frankfurt / Main Wüst took acting lessons at Thessa Kling Hammer and received at the age of 16 years, her first engagement at the Municipal Theatre of Colmar, followed by further work in Bydgoszcz and from 1904 in Leipzig. In 1907 she became a member of the ensemble of the Lessing Theater in Berlin, where she advanced in trouser roles and comedies for the sought-after actress, and among others in the Berlin premiere of the play chamber music by Heinrich Ilgenstein celebrated successes.

About the spectacle learned Wüst her castmates and later husband Bruno Kastner, with whom she wrote from 1919 screenplays, and his wife she remained until 1927.

Her first major film role was played by Ida Wüst 1922/23, in four-part silent film tragedy of love 1-4, followed by the several other silent films. Also in the sound film could Wüst - celebrate another great success that earned her the nickname in the 1930s, " The desert Ida " - unlike many of her silent film colleagues.
