Ilava District

The Okres Ilava is an administrative region in the north- west of Slovakia with 61 422 inhabitants ( 2004) and an area of 359 km ².

The district is located in the Middle Vah region in the northern parts of the Trenčín Region and is surrounded to the north of the White Carpathians and in the south of the Strážovské hills. To the north it borders on the district Púchov, in the east on short pieces to the district Považská Bystrica and Žilina ( in Žilinský ), to the southeast by the district Prievidza, to the south and west by the District Trenčín and to the north by the Czech Republic.

Historically, it lies in the former county of Trenčín (see also List of historic counties of Hungary ).
