Immekath is a district of the city blocks in the Altmark Salzwedel in Saxony- Anhalt, Germany.

Geography

Immekath located on the eastern bank of the river in a valley between the Jeetze Klötzer and the Melliner forest. While the place is located at an altitude of 50 meters, it is flanked by the 110 meter high Zißberg the east and 95 meters high Schwertelberg in the West. The city blocks is five kilometers away. The county town of Salzwedel located 36 kilometers to the north. The border of Lower Saxony is located seven kilometers west. Dwelling places of the village are Hoppe mill, Kahlenberg, Kunz mountain, novice mill and seven rods. The village lies on the geological Calvörder plaice.

History

Immekath was first mentioned in 1289. The population grew from 731 in 1910 about 717 in 1964 to around 600 people to 2005. According to the Prussian district reform of 1815 Immekath was incorporated into the Salzwedel. During the communist era the place was in the circle pads, and after German reunification, the Altmark Salzwedel was again responsible. 2006 Immekath won in the competition " Our village has a future" for the area of the Altmark circle Salzwedel the first place.

Due to a change in the contract area, the municipal council of the municipality Immekath decided on 8 January 2009 that the community Immekath is incorporated into the city blocks. This agreement was approved by the county as a lower municipal supervisory authority and entered into force on 1 January 2010.

After incorporation of the previously autonomous municipality Immekath was Immekath district of the city blocks. The flag is yellow - green (1:1) striped ( cross- shape: strips horizontally extending, longitudinal shape: strip running vertically ) and centrally occupied with the municipal coat of arms.

Economy and infrastructure

In addition to the branch plant of a Berlin bakery, which mainly produces frozen bakery products, also an agricultural cooperative is based in Immekath. Besides this, several small businesses and artisans in their services. Immekath has one of the most advanced wastewater treatment plants in Germany. This is the place for its size has a well developed infrastructure.

Attractions

The Protestant church was built in the years 1858-1865. It lies at the end of the elongated village square and is surrounded by a stone wall house. The neo-Gothic nave and square, 30 meter high west tower were built of field stones. The basement of the tower dates back from the previous church, the floor is made of brick. The interior of the nave is terminated by a boarded roof, on the west wall of a gallery was attached. The pulpit, organ pipes, the baptismal font and pews originate uniformly from the time of the establishment of the Church.

West of the town at the cemetery are the ruins of the church of the former place Dannefeld. It was destroyed in 1343 during the war between Emperor Louis and the Duke of Brunswick. There are still remains of the foundations of the Romanesque church tower.

One and a half kilometers south of the town center is the 1375 first mentioned Hoppe mill, a water mill that is still intact today.

About two to three kilometers northwest of Immekath occupy two part poorly preserved megalithic tombs the colonization of the region in the Neolithic period.

Leisure

The largest club is the ICC ( Immekather carnival club), where almost two-thirds of the population are members.
