Indiana Blizzard

The Indiana Blizzard were an American ice hockey franchise of the All American Hockey League from Dyer, Indiana. They played in the 1,500 -seater Midwest Training & Ice Center.

History

Founded the franchise under the name Detroit Hitmen in 2009 and was located in Fraser, Michigan. The partner team were the Port Huron Icehawks of the International Hockey League. After only two months, the Detroit Hitmen fell into financial problems, however, and the franchise was relocated under a new owner to Muskegon. So you are continuing a long series of minor league teams in Muskegon, but there were already ten other teams active.

The West Michigan Blizzard worked with the Elmira Jackals of the ECHL and the junior level with the Philadelphia Thunder from the United Junior Hockey League. They were thus the only team of the AAHL with a partner team in the ECHL. The team was following the 2009/10 season after Dyer, Indiana, relocated and renamed Indiana Blizzard.

In December 2010, the franchise ceased operating the game with immediate effect and was replaced for the remainder of the season by the Chi -Town Shooters, who returned to the AAHL.
