Ingrid Becker

Ingrid Mickler -Becker, nee Becker ( born September 26, 1942 in Geseke ) is a former German athlete who had - starting for the Federal Republic - two Olympic medals won: In 1968, she won the gold medal in the pentathlon. At the Olympic Games in Munich in 1972 she was a member of the winning 4 x 100 - meter relay.

Life

She took first time in 1960 at the Olympics in part and this year was the youngest member of the German team. In 1971 she was elected after two wins at the European Championships Athlete of the Year. In her active career, she started for the LG Geseke and the USC Mainz. She had a competition weight of 64 kg at a height of 1.78 m. Since 1977 she is a personal member of the National Olympic Committee. Ingrid Mickler -Becker is a member of the athletics community Geseke (LG Geseke ), which is probably the oldest LG Germany, and is for this club also started many years as an active athlete. Even today, she is committed to the club and their hometown Geseke. So she leads as chairman of the Foundation for Athletics in Geseke.

Ingrid Mickler -Becker's father was killed in World War II. She was initially saleswoman and community worker and later took a teacher to study. In 1973 she was awarded the prize of the Minister of Culture of Rhineland- Palatinate for the best exam of the year at the University of Mainz.

Until 1987 she was a high school teacher for sports and social studies in Mainz, then she went to the U.S., where her husband worked as engineer. In 1990, she was the CDU for one and a half years of State for Social Affairs of Rhineland -Palatinate, but lost the post after the next election. Later, she worked for a German - Swiss consultancy firm.

2005 Ingrid Mickler -Becker was awarded the Golden Sports Pyramid 2005 ( 25,000 euros ) of the German Sports Aid Foundation for lifetime achievement as an athlete and in the promotion of the sport. 2006 was followed by the recording related to the Hall of Fame of German sport. In 2009 she was made ​​an honorary citizen of Geseke.

She is married and mother of a son. Ingrid Mickler -Becker lives in Zornheim ( Rheinhessen ).
