Iran at the 1948 Summer Olympics

The Summer Olympic Games in London in 1948 were the second Summer Games with Iranian participation. The Iranian team included 35 athletes ( men only) who competed in five of the nineteen delivered sports and reached the 36th place in the medal table.

The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was Mostafa Baharmast.

The weightlifter Mohammad Jafar Salmasi won the very first and only playing these games medal of Iran: Bronze featherweight.

The recent Iranian athlete was the boxer Emmanuel Agassi (17 years, 226 days), the father of the tennis superstars Andre Agassi. The oldest Iranian athletes was the weightlifting Asadollah Mihani Tehrani (30 years, 82 days).
