Iranian presidential election, 1980

The Iranian presidential elections in 1980 took place on 25 January 1980.

The elections were the first presidential election of Iran to the constitutional amendment and the Islamic Revolution. The elections signified by the fall of the Shah, Mohammad Reza Pahlavi, no direction choice. Regardless of whether or not the candidate of the bourgeois parties ( Independent / National Front ) would win the election, the Constitution wrote the religious leader Ruhollah Khomeini as Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran before. 96 candidates stood for election, the turnout of 20,993,643 eligible voters was 67.4 %.
