Isabelle Mir

Isabelle Mir ( born March 2, 1949 in Saint- Lary -Soulan, Hautes -Pyrénées ) is a French former alpine skier.

Mirabelle, as it was very often called, won the silver medal behind the Austrian Olga Pall at the 1968 Olympic Winter Games in Grenoble in the downhill. In the slalom, she was fifth, sixth in the giant slalom. The World Ski Championships 1970 in Val Gardena, she won the downhill another silver medal, this time behind the Swiss Annerösli Zryd. At the Olympic Winter Games Sapporo in 1972 she missed the medals scarce and finished fourth.

In the Ski World Cup she was also successful. In 1968, she was the downhill World Cup to decide for themselves, even if they had to share this success with the same number of points Olga Pall. In 1970, she was able to repeat their success, this time well ahead of Annie Famose. Overall, they won nine World Cup races ( eight runs and a giant slalom ). From 1967 to 1972 she was ten times French Champion (4x combination, 3x departure, 2x Giant Slalom and Slalom 1x ). In January 1973 she ended her sports career.
