Olga Pall

Olga Pall ( born December 3, 1947 in Gostling an der Ybbs, Lower Austria ) is a former Austrian alpine skier. It was 1968 Olympic gold medalist and world champion in the downhill at the same time. In the same year she won equal points with the Frenchwoman Isabelle Mir also the downhill World Cup. She was also in 1968 and 1969 Austrian Champion in this discipline.

Career

Olga Pall was born in Lower Austria, moved the age of three with her family to Bischofshofen and a little later after Solbadhotel Hall in Tirol. Her youngest sister Elisabeth was also a ski racer.

At the beginning of the 1960s reach Pall initial success in school and youth races. In 1965 she celebrated her first major victory in the departure of Madonna di Campiglio, a year later, she finished second in the combination of Saint- Gervais- les- Bains. In 1966 she was inducted into the national team of the Austrian Ski Federation. In the first World Cup season 1967, she finished sixth in the downhill race of the Gold Key in Schruns as the best result. Greater success they had in races outside of the World Cup, for which she won the giant slalom and giant slalom Zürs of Innsbruck was second.

In the winter of 1968 Pall was also in the World Cup to the top runner and celebrated the departure of the silver jug race in Bad Gastein on January 17, her first World Cup victory. Olga Pall then trained as a physiotherapist and remained closely connected to skiing. At the Olympic Games in Lake Placid in 1980 and Sarajevo in 1984, she worked as a caregiver for the Austrian team. From 1990 to 2002 she was Vice- President of the Austrian Ski Federation, and later she was appointed honorary president. Her husband Ernst Scartezzini worked for many years as an active athlete and sports official. From 1986 to 2004 he was President of the Tyrolean Ski Association, he was also named one of the honorary president of the Austrian Ski Federation in 2005.
