Issa Hayatou

Issa Hayatou ( born August 9, 1946 in Cameroon) is a Cameroonian sports official. Until the 1960s, he was also active as an athlete. He is since 1988 the president of the Confederation of African Football.

Life

Issa Hayatou was born in 1946 in Cameroon. He began to drive early in his youth sports. He finally won at the age of 18 years as an athlete competitions. Disciplines in the 400-meter and 800 -meter run In addition, he has now to 1971 a member of the Cameroon national basketball team. During this time he finally took part in the All Africa Games in Brazzaville. He also became a successful football player at his university at this time.

After he completed his studies physical education teacher, he became in 1973 a professor at the Lycée Leclerc in Yaounde. A year later, he was finally Secretary General of the Cameroon Football Association. A post he held in the following nine years until 1983. 1982 he became director of the sports organization in Cameroon's Ministry of Youth and Sports. In 1985, he was finally, which office he has held President of the Cameroon Football Association today. In 1986, he was in the Cameroon Football Association also a member of the Executive Committee. Four years later, in 1990, he became a member of the FIFA Executive Committee. In 1992, he began also his post of Vice Präsidentes FIFA that he has held to this day. At the same time he was also President of the Organising Committee of the Olympic football tournaments and FIFA vice-president of FIFA committee on security and fair play as well as a member of the FIFA World Cup Organising FIFA committee.

1997 Hayatou became a member of the Committee on Women and Sport of the International Olympic Committee and head of Cameroonian sports delegations in some sporting events. He eventually became a member of the International Olympic Committee in 2001. A year later, he ran for the presidency of FIFA, but lost to Sepp Blatter. On November 3, 2007 Hayatou was awarded an honorary degree from the Technical University Ladoke Akintola in Ogbomosho ( Oyo ), in Nigeria. Hayatou is the father of four children. He lives with his wife in Yaoundé in Cameroon.
