Jaap van Lagen

Jaap van Lagen ( born December 22, 1976 in Ede ) is a Dutch racing driver.

Career

Van Lagen began his motorsport career in 1999 in the Dutch Citroën Saxo Cup and immediately won the vice-championship. In 2000 he moved to Formula racing and was ninth in the Benelux Formula Ford and tenth in the Dutch Formula Ford 2001, he remained in the Benelux Formula Ford and won the championship title, although he was able to win only one of twelve races for themselves. A year later he was the championship, this time with seven wins, defend and also secured the title of the Dutch Formula Ford In addition, he took part in two races in the German Formula 3 Championship. In 2003 he competed in the German Formula Volkswagen and won 8 of 14 races, with which he won the championship title.

In 2004 he moved to the Formula Renault V6 Eurocup and finished the season with a win in the seventh place overall. In 2005 he went for Witmeur KTR as team-mate Tristan Gommendy in the World Series by Renault at the start. While his team-mate with a win was fourth, finished van Lagen with a second place as best result in ninth place overall. In 2006, van Lagen for Comtec Racing only three race weekends of the World Series by Renault in part and reached the 28th place in the overall standings. His main focus in this season, however, on the Mégane Trophy Eurocup, where he won the championship title.

In 2007, the Dutchman for different teams again at three race weekends of the World Series by Renault part and was again 28th in the championship. He also began to six races in the Porsche Supercup, finishing in 14th place overall. In 2008 he took part in the full season in the Porsche Supercup and chose a race for themselves. In the overall standings, he reached the seventh place. In addition, he gave in the 2008 season for Russian Bears Motorsport his debut in the World Touring Car Championship. With the inferior Lada 110, however, he was not aggressive and had no points.

2009 remained van Lagen in the World Touring Car Championship. His situation improved only when his now factory-supported team found him in the last third of the season the new Lada Priora available. At Oschersleben van Lagen was the first time in a promising position on championship points, however, he was promoted into the gravel at number five by Nicola Larini lying in the last corner. As van Lagen again was in Okayama in the points, a mechanical failure his first points. Thus van Lagen finished the season without points again. In spring 2010 Lada drew his works involvement in the World Touring Car Championship unannounced back, although van Lagen already had a contract for the coming season. He had the World Touring Car Championship and was therefore left in the Porsche Supercup is a new interior for the 2010 season. Van Lagen finished the season with a second place as best result in fourth place overall. He also was in the Super League Formula 2010 season debut in the Superleague Formula and took part in a race weekend.
