James Edward Quigley

James Edward Quigley (* October 15, 1854 in Oshawa, Ontario, Canada, † July 10, 1915 in Chicago, USA) was Archbishop of Chicago.

Life

James Edward Quigley received on 13 April 1879, the sacrament of Holy Orders.

On December 12, 1896, he was named Pope Leo XIII. Bishop of Buffalo. The Archbishop of New York, Michael Augustine Corrigan, gave him on 24 February 1897, the episcopal ordination; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Rochester, Joseph Bernard John McQuaid, and the Bishop of Brooklyn, Charles Edward McDonnell.

On January 8, 1903, he was named Leo XIII. Archbishop of Chicago. The inauguration took place on 10 March of the same year.

A year after his death, the newly formed Theological Seminary of the Archdiocese of Chicago preparation was named after Quigley ( Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminary ).
