Jan Polák

January Polák (2009)

January Polák ( born March 14, 1981 in Brno ) is a Czech football player at the position of midfielder. He is currently at VfL Wolfsburg in the German Bundesliga under contract.

Club career

From his first club FC Tatran Bohunice January Polák moved to FC Boby Brno. His debut in the first league was Polák on 20 March 1998 at the age of 17 years and six days. Boby Brno lost the Derby FC Petra Drnovice with 0:4. After 124 games and five goals Polák changed in the summer of 2002 for about 20 million crowns for FC Slovan Liberec, where he signed a four -year contract.

In three years, he played 65 times nationally and internationally 17 times for his club. Most recently, he was a regular and was voted the best player of the season so far in the league, before he moved to 1.FC Nürnberg 2005/06 season for 1.2 million euros from Slovan Liberec for the Bundesliga. He made his debut (1st Round ) on August 6, 2005, the 0-3 defeat in the away match against Hamburger SV; He scored his first Bundesliga goal on May 2, 2006 ( 32 Matchday) in a 5-2 victory at home to Borussia Monchengladbach for interim 2-2 draw in the 60th minute. Beginning of August 2007 changed Polák to the Brussels club RSC Anderlecht. The transfer fee is said to have stood at around 3.5 million euros. In his first year with the club he won his second consecutive National Cup and the following year he was a regular in the defensive midfield. In the league, Anderlecht was runner-up in two years. In the 2009/10 season, the Belgian champion took his record 30th league title. However, the Czech fell after a cruciate ligament injury shortly after the season starts long and only came on four missions.

The following year, in January Polák played in the first round back regularly for the Belgians, but when he during the winter break an offer of VfL Wolfsburg got, was looking for a gain after an unsatisfactory course of the season, he moved back to the end of January 2011 German Bundesliga. With Polák Czech Republic took part in the 2006 World Cup in Germany and at the 2008 European Championship in Austria and Switzerland.

Polák played more 57 caps for the Czech Republic, where he scored seven goals ( April 3, 2012). In the successful qualification for the FIFA World Cup 2006, he scored four goals in ten games.
