Jan Wejchert

January Bohdan Wejchert (* January 5, 1950; † 31 October 2009) was an eminent Polish businessman and media entrepreneur. He was a founder of the media group ITI and committed as an investor in several other companies and construction projects. Wejchert one of 2007 's top ten richest Poland.

Training

Wejchert went on III. Liceum Ogólnokształcące in Gdansk to school. He studied at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Warsaw. In 1968 he visited England, France, Switzerland and Italy. In 1974 he began a tenure at the Frankfurt trading company Konsuprod GmbH & Co. Two years later he founded the Polish subsidiary of the company, one of the first foreign direct investment in socialist Poland. This company produced above all imported from India VCR.

Company founder

In 1984 Wejchert founded together with Mariusz Walter, the ITI Group ( International Trade and Investment ), which was initially engaged in the manufacture of potato chips. Wejchert was managing director of the company. Another shareholder was since 1991 Bruno Valsangiacomo. 1997 Wejchert was co-founder of the Polish television network TVN. He was a board member and later a board member of the broadcasting group. He also was involved in other investments the ITI group, such as the Internet portal Onet.pl in whose management he was also active. He was also co-owner of the Warsaw football club Legia Warsaw. In 2007 he resigned from his position at TVN.
