Jankov (České Budějovice District)

Yankov ( German Jankau ) is a municipality in the Czech Republic. It is located 13 kilometers west of the center of České Budějovice and belongs to České Budějovice.

Geography

Yankov is located in the northern foothills of Blanský and will brook crossed by Jankovský. To the south stretches a ridge with the Skalka ( 684 m), Střední hora ( 702 m) and Svelhan ( 721 m). To the northeast lies the Vráže (480 m).

Neighboring towns are Borovka and Čakov in the north, Čakovec in the east, Kvítkovice, Habří and Bohouškovice the southeast, Chmelná in the south, Nová Ves in the southwest, Holašovice in the west and Záboří in the northwest.

History

The first mention of Yankov dates from 1379th

In the jungle at Skalka southwest of Yankov are two historic grave mound. 1927 there is a bronze treasure of tools as well as women 's and men's jewelry from the time of Knovízská culture was discovered that dated to the period 1300-900 BC.

Yankov is a member of the microregion Blanský - Foothills.
