Jarkko Immonen

Jarkko Immonen ( born April 19, 1982 in Rantasalmi ) is a Finnish professional ice hockey player who is since May 2013 in Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod in the Kontinental Hockey League contract.

Career

Immonen his career began in 1997 at SaPKo Savonlinna in Finland's second-rate I Divisioona for which he stormed up to the year 2000. With the establishment of the Mestis 2000 was the change to TuTo Turku, which he left in 2001 and signed a contract with Ässät Pori in the SM- liiga. There he stayed for one season and then went to league rivals JYP Jyväskylä. He was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the eighth round in a total of 254 point in the NHL Entry Draft in 2002.

His debut in the National Hockey League was the right shooter 2005 jersey of the New York Rangers. Having, however, mainly in their farm team, the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League, was used, he moved to the 2007/08 season back to Finland to JYP Jyväskylä, where he has played ever since. In 2009 he won the Finnish championship with the team and moved to the subsequent summer break in the Continental Hockey League for the reigning champions Ak Bars Kazan. With this he won in the 2009/10 season also the Gagarin Cup.

In 2013 he left the club and moved within the KHL to Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod.

Internationally

For Immonen Finland took part in the junior level at the U18 World Junior Championship in 2000 and the U20 World Youth Championship in 2002. He won the bronze medal with his team in the U18 section the gold and in the U20 section. In the senior level, he stood in his country's squad at the World Championships in 2009, 2010 and 2011 and at the 2010 Olympic Winter Games in Vancouver. At the 2010 Winter Games he won the bronze medal with Finland. In the senior level, he was able to convince especially at the 2011 World Cup, when he became World Champion with Finland. For this title, he contributed decisively as top scorer of the World Cup. In addition, he was selected as the tournament goes into the All-Star team. In addition, he represented Finland in the years 2004, 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 in the Euro Hockey Tour.
