Jarkko Wiss

Jarkko Wiss ( born April 17, 1972 in Tampere ) is a Finnish former football player and current coach.

Playing career

Jarkko Wiss played since 1991 in the men's team from Tampere PV, a club from his hometown, who at that time was ranked third in the Finnish league. At the very beginning of his career, the midfielder established as a regular force and celebrated in his first professional season promotion to the highest Finnish league. After relegation in the 1993 season, he won a year later with his team the championship in the First Division. Thus, the team of Wiss also qualified for the UEFA Cup in 1995/96, in which one but failed in the first qualifying round at Viking Stavanger in Norway. In addition to this setback on the European stage, the club rose after the championship season in 1995 surprisingly again in the second division. Wiss Then joined the club and went to FF Jaro to continue to play in the first division. After just one season he left the club back to 1997 for HJK Helsinki, one of the most successful Finnish football clubs aground. In his first season he won with the new team its second championship and the League Cup. In the following season 1998 Helsinki was in the championship, although only fourth, but won the national cup and also defended the title as League Cup winners.

Jarkko Wiss first time in 1999 left his home and played each half a year for Molde FK, Lillestrøm SK and Moss FK in the Norwegian Tippeligaen. In the 2001 /02 season the Finn played for the then English second division club Stockport County. At the end of the season the team went with only 6 wins out of 46 games as a Table to the third tier from and Wiss joined Hibernian in the Scottish Premier League. There he played with his team until 2004, but without achieving significant success. After two years in Scotland, the midfielder returned to his homeland and played for the 1998 newly founded club Tampere United in his native city. He also played with his club still in the UEFA Champions League 2007 / 08, in which the team failed in the third qualifying round of the Norwegian giants Rosenborg Trondheim.
